We are pleased to present the exhibition Burning Blue, from April 22 to May 22, 2026, at the Institut Français d’Égypte in Alexandria, Égypt.
The Institut Français d’Alexandrie, in cooperation with Senghor University, is organizing the cultural festival “Writing the Mediterranean”, which will take place in Alexandria, around the theme “Women and the Mediterranean.”
This week, in one of the most emblematic cities in the history of culture and astronomy, we invite you to discover the exhibition Burning Blue, featuring nine destinies of women who have transformed the history of science, astronomy, culture, and art through the stars.
We are pleased to offer you a guided tour of the exhibition in this exceptional setting, on view until May 22.
In Marseille in June 2023, the President of the Republic announced the organization of a Mediterranean Season in 2026 to bring forward shared projects from all shores of the Mediterranean.
Burning Blue is a work composed of symbols that represent the positions of stars at specific moments on Earth, such as Hypatia, an Alexandrian mathematician and astronomer.
The artwork Burning Blue is produced with the support of partners, residencies, and resources.
